Donor Fatigue: Top 3 Reasons

You’re busy so I’ll be brief. We live in a time of increasing needs and donors are getting hit up more now than ever. Top three reasons donor fatigue/burnout kicks in…

  1. Asking too often…You and/or a bunch of others have asked too many times without a non-ask anywhere in between. This reduces the emotional connection that often drives who donors donate to. Simply put, donors want to feel like they are part of something, not just like they are being used for cash.
  2. Lack of impact and/or transparency…Donors don’t see the value on what and why they are giving. Making sure they do can help create better engagement and outreach between ‘asks.’
  3. Economic strain…When the economy is rough often personal budgets are too. Failing to acknowledge with sensitivity a change in the economic landscape can increase donor burnout.
