Action

“Action is the real measure of intelligence. ” ~Napoleon Hill

I try to listen to motivational speeches, speakers, books etc. whenever I am working out.  I especially love doing it when I am working out in the morning.  It just feels like it gets me up and running quicker.  And while I love music I feel like my iPod was made to help me consume more books and information to help me grow.

I remember a USA Today article a couple of years ago that stated 25% of people read no books the previous year.  I’ve also seen the statistic that 33% of high school graduates never read another book.  And that just 15% of people read books regularly.  I find that shocking.

If you read (or listen to) one book a week related to self improvement or your field of employment think of the outstanding edge you have over others.  Who in their right mind wouldn’t love an edge like that?

While in the past we have been a society and economy where one could just stand in line and eventually they would reach the front, this is no longer the case.  Take some action and propel yourself forward.  If it is as easy as reading or listening to a book, why wouldn’t you?

The greatest gift is a passion for reading. It is cheap, it consoles, it distracts, it excites, it gives you knowledge of the world and experience of a wide kind. It is a moral illumination.” ~Elizabeth Hardwick
